However, trees are being cut down at an alarming and appalling rate – one and a half acres of forest disappearing every second! At this rate, we’d lose all our rainforests within the century. What were to happen if the oxygen that is so critical to our living were to reduce in the atmosphere? Or what if medicines and herbs were no longer available? If we wanted to save trees from being chopped down, should we have to go as far as reinstating the Chipko Movement?
